The Bahookie is Shand's do-it-all mountain bike. Perfect for bikepacking, adventure racing, heading off for a long day in the hills, or a quick blast through the woods after work. The hand-built steel frame is designed around 29" wheels and can be built with a lightweight rigid carbon fork, a carbon leaf spring fork from Lauf, or a variety of suspension forks from Rock Shox or Fox. As with all of their frames, the Bahookie is completely fabricated in their workshop in Central Scotland - including painting - using TIG welded custom drawn Columbus Niobium tubing.
The Bahookie frame offers the ultimate in versatility. Modular dropouts and cable routing make it easy to set up a Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/15 internal gear hub, a derailleur system, or a single speed. A 44mm headtube offers compatibility with the latest generation of tapered-steerer mountain bike forks as well as straight-steerer ones, dropper post compatibility is provided with internal stealth routing, and 3 sets of bottle mounts and rack mounts make it the perfect adventure mountain bike. A press fit 30 bottom bracket shell offers the flexibility of fitting either an eccentric bottom bracket or a standard PF30 bottom bracket in the 73mm shell. Paragon Machine Works PolyDrop dropouts allow fitting of different inserts to suit different drivetrains. 135x10 Q/R dropouts come standard, but 142x12 dropouts are also available as a no cost option. The dropouts also make the Bahookie belt drive ready (a neat split is concealed within the PolyDrop dropouts) if you want to run a Gates Carbon Drive belt for the ultimate in reliability and ease of maintenance.
